SELL TOKENS OVERVIEW

In this tournament, you’ll have 2 sell tokens (only 2 for 2 stages of the tour). If you’re an experienced player, the information below might already be familiar to you. However, if you’re new to fantasy, this might be useful as we’ll show some examples of how you can use your sell tokens effectively.

PLAYER PRICES AND TEAM LIMITATIONS

Let’s keep it simple: right now, player prices are structured in such a way that if you want to pick, for example, players only from Aurora, FURIA, NAVI, or The Mongolz, you’ll need to include players like FALLEN, Aleksib, Blitz and Maj3r, plus two other players from any of those teams who are not star players.

HOW SELL TOKENS IMPACT YOUR FINAL PLACEMENT

Let’s explain how sell tokens can affect your final placement in the tournament.

Here’s how it might work: For example, if you want to start the tournament with five players from teams like Aurora, The Mongolz, NAVI, and FURIA, you’ll likely need to choose 2–3 captains from those teams to make such a lineup possible.

However, there’s a downside to this strategy those 2–3 captains might not always perform at their best, and as a result, you could end up without a true star player from these teams.

That’s where your sell tokens come in handy. Instead of picking a captain from a top team, you can choose a cheaper player and use the remaining budget to buy a more expensive star, such as XANTARES, b1t, senzu, and so on.

BUILDING A SAFE STRATEGY WITH SELL TOKENS

That’s why, in this tournament, you can play it safe and build your strategy entirely around teams like Aurora, NAVI, FURIA, and The Mongolz. But as we mentioned earlier, you still have 2 sell tokens that can help you in such cases.

Let’s imagine this scenario: At the very beginning, you pick 4 players from teams like Aurora, NAVI, FURIA, The Mongolz, plus 1 player from, say, 9z. Now, let’s assume 9z doesn’t make it to the playoffs — which is likely, since they’re considered underdogs.

In that case, you might want to sell one of your star players from a top team and buy a mid-tier player from the same or another top team instead. After that, you can sell your 9z player and replace them with someone like Aleksib, FalleN, or Maj3r.

WHY THIS STRATEGY WORKS

This way, your sell tokens really come in handy — because at the start, you sacrificed one player in order to get stronger players from top-tier teams later on. (And realistically, a player from 9z can earn about as many points in the group stage as a weaker player from a top team.) But try to avoid cheap players who can lose 0-2 in the group because this low budget player will play one game less, it’s better to choose low budget player who will be at least 1-2 in the group and then sell him.

So you’re not really losing anything by picking one weaker-team player early on and using your budget to buy stronger players. Even if that weaker player gets eliminated in the group stage, you can always sell them and build a full 5-player lineup from Aurora, The Mongolz, NAVI, and FURIA.

The main thing to remember is that the money you get from selling a player is added to the funds you had left over when you first built your lineup.

POINT PADDINGS EXPLAINED

We’d also like to mention a feature called point paddings. To help you better understand how it works, here’s a quick explanation: for example, let’s say some of your players have already advanced to the next stage of the tournament and only played 2 matches in the group stage. Meanwhile, other teams are still playing their third group stage match — and this is where point paddings come into play.

Here’s how it works: let’s say you have XANTARES, who scored an average of 13 points over his 2 group stage matches. When he skips the third match (because his team already qualified), he will automatically be granted those 13 average points as point padding.

But remember — the most important rule is: you cannot buy a player only to get point paddings. A player must play at least one match before they become eligible for point paddings. So if you’re buying a player just to get these free points, it’s a bad idea.

Also, you will not receive point paddings if you buy a player, sell him, then buy him again — unless he has played another match after you re-purchase him. Without playing at least one more game, he won’t earn point paddings again.

IMPORTANT DATES AND MATCH RULES

REMEMBER! The teams who will reach playoffs 2-0 will get paddings 17th of October.
Decider match in group also counted.
And match for the third place will be counted!

It’s also better to avoid cheap player which team will have 0-2 in the group because you will have one game less and you need to sell your player very early to get another, better to pick cheap player which team will be at least 1-2 in group and then later to sell him in playoffs.
