IEM Sydney CS2

Important info coming to IEM Sydney CS2

  • IEM Sydney will be the first CS2 Tournament.
  • The Headshot bonus have been removed in our Point System.
  • CherryXtrfy hosts the Main League for IEM Sydney.

Format

There will be a wipe period between the Group stage and Playoffs allowing you to create a whole new team based on the teams in the playoff stage.

Group Stage:

  • Two double-elimination format (GSL) groups
  • Each group has eight teams
  • Opening matches are Bo1
  • All following matches are Bo3
  • The top three teams from each group advance to the Playoffs:
  • Group stage winners advance to the Semifinals
  • Group stage runners-up advance to the Quarterfinals as the High Seeds
  • Group stage 3rd place teams advance to the Quarterfinals as the Low Seeds

Playoffs:

  • Single-elimination bracket
  • All matches are Bo3

Point padding

Average point padding is given to teams that qualify deeper in the tournament and thus miss important matches that can generate their points. The average point padding is their average points across all their matches during that stage. Static point padding is given to the team at the start of the tournament if they are further in the bracket. Static point padding is always 6 points.

Upper Bracket Final Teams:

  • 1 Round Average Point padding: 18th of Oct, Game phase

Point System v2

Kills: (Total / number of rounds) x 10

Assist: (Total / number of rounds) x 6

Deaths: (Total / number of rounds) x -4

KD-rating = 0-4 points

  • KD-rating: 0.8< 1 point
  • KD-rating: 1 < 2 points
  • KD-rating: 1.25 < 3 points
  • KD-rating: 1.5 < 4 points

Winning a match series = 2 points

Losing a match series = 0 points

The point system in practice:

Every player in your "active roster" will receive points per series rather than per map. See a BO3 example below.

Map 1 = 11 points, map 2 = 12 points & map 3 = 9 points. In this case, that player would receive 32/3 = 10.7 points. Of course + the average KD rating in that series and the extra 2 points if that player's team won.

Fantasy Phases

Building phase

Welcome to the build phase, where you create your entire roster for the upcoming stage. If the tournament is short, there might only be 1 build phase which is the one at the start. If the tournament is longer with different stages, you can enter the build phase before the next stage. For example, you start by creating a team for the group stage. Then there is a pause before the playoffs. During this time, you will enter a new build phase where you can create a team for the playoffs. Read the info blog for the tournament to see if there are multiple build phases.

Edit phase

In the editing phase, you can change your Captain and use your sell tokens. This phase takes place when no matches are playing during the day. It starts at 03:00 (Tournament timezone) and ends 1 hour before the day's first match.

Game Phase

During this phase, your lineup is locked, and you can't make any more changes. So sit back and cheer on your players. Hopefully, they will do well!

Captain Feature

The captain feature gives a 50% point bonus to the player you have assigned as your Captain. If you want, you can set a Captain before the league starts, and the captain booster will stay on that player until you actively change it to another player. You have one Captain swap every day, but you will lose your Captain swap for the day if your Captain has started a match series. You can only swap Captain during the Edit phase!

Captain = 1.5x bonus points

Selling a player

The SELL token enables participants to sell a player in their lineup and buy a new one. This action can only be performed during the EDIT phases and will consume your SELL token. When selling a player, you will be refunded the same amount of money as previously paid when you purchased the player. You will keep the points of your sold players for the remainder of the tournament, and they will be displayed in the section "Sold players". We encourage you to be strategic with your SELL tokens since you only have 1 for every tournament stage. Your sell token will "refresh" at every building stage. The sell token respects the max 2 per team limitation.

End Notes

The Organizer reserves the right to change the above Point System and described features at its sole discretion. We will inform users of significant changes, publicly announcing them on the website or our Discord server.
